Major gifts and philanthropy

Join our community of supporters coming together for truth

The Guardian Foundation is an award-winning charity tackling some of the most urgent issues of our time. As false information spreads faster than ever and independent journalism is under pressure worldwide, we are building a community of philanthropists who are determined to defend the right to quality, accurate information.

What we do

We have over 35 years of experience delivering high impact programmes. We teach news and media literacy in schools, nurture journalists from underrepresented communities and draw on the Guardian’s resources to support free and independent media worldwide.

How you can make a difference

Our work is reliant on our donors and we are incredibly grateful for any donation we receive. We define a major donor as anyone giving a gift of £500 or more. You can choose to become a Friend, Champion or Gamechanger, depending on what feels right for you.

This is how you can make a difference:

  • £500 could train a news and media literacy facilitator who will deliver workshops to schools across the UK.

  • £5,000 could deliver workshops for over 50 young people, so they can safely identify trustworthy journalism and have the critical skills for the digital age.

  • £15,000 could deliver a new Masterclass series for 20 aspiring journalists, equipping them with a deeper understanding of key journalism skills and competencies.

  • If you’re considering joining our community and would like more information, please complete the form below and we’ll email you our online brochure. You can also get in touch [email protected]. We would be happy to answer any questions you have.
