Media Literacy Peer Learning Project
Media literacy ambassadors: scaling media literacy in your school or college
Our new project supports young people aged 14-18 in the Midlands, Greater Manchester and South and West Yorkshire to develop their critical analysis skills and build resilience to online misinformation in an innovative and engaging way. Our experienced media literacy team will work with students in schools to design and deliver sessions that they will go on to co-deliver to their peers.
Register your interest
Taking part in the project will enable schools and teachers to:

  • Scale media literacy knowledge and skills across the organisation and across year groups, subjects and whole school curriculum

  • Take part in free teacher training and access to resources

  • Receive a comprehensive media literacy peer learning teacher guide as a result of the project

  • Attend wider knowledge sharing and CPD events.

    • Young people taking part in the project will:

  • Achieve recognition as Media Literacy ambassadors (certification)

  • Enhance media literacy understanding, skills and confidence as a result of involvement in the programme co-create and deliver the programme in their school or college

  • Develop their leadership, presentation and employability skills

  • Have the opportunity to attend a showcase event with other ambassadors from across the region.

    • Why is media literacy important?
    Media literacy skills, knowledge and confidence are fundamental in being able to navigate our fast-paced digital world. Young people need to be inspired and supported to engage with the news and media they consume, understand how it is produced and develop the critical analysis skills to recognise mis and disinformation.

    Through peer learning, we hope to embed these skills in schools into the long term.
